About Afyon Basmakci Rugs : 

Afyon is a province located in the Inner West Anatolian Section of the Aegean Region.
Afyonkarahisar is not only an important center due to its location, but also a city that gained fame and appreciation for its handicrafts in the 1800s.
The diversity in handicrafts is striking.
It is stated by writer and thinker Mehmet Ziya Efendi that carpet weaving was an important source of livelihood in Afyonkarahisar in 1899.
Carpet making has become a family economy and a source of income in Başmakçı district and its villages.
As in Afyonkarahisar local rugs, warp, weft and motif yarn spun wool was used in their carpets. Threads dyed with natural dyes have survived to the present day by preserving their brightness without fading.
Since the pasture condition of the region is good, the quality of the wool obtained from the sheep is also quite high.
Warp, weft and loop thread are made at the factory with primitive tools such as hand-calibrated spinning wheel, kirman, and there is absolutely no excess thinness or thickness in the threads.
The tradition of thread number 2.5, which has been going on for a long time in the region, has not been broken.
